Mike Labriola on the Randori Framework

May 22 2013 by Nick Kwiatkowski

MikeOn June 12th, The Michigan ActionScript User Group and the Mid-Michigan ColdFusion User Group are proud to host Mike Labriola from Digital Primates.  Mike will be in town to show us a new “HTML5 framework” known as Randori that allows you to write OOP code in C# or ActionScript and compile it to fast, efficient and easy to test JavaScript.  Randori allows you to write in a comfortable language and retain some of the most important aspects such as strict typing, inheritance, classes, and compile-time checking all the while targeting your existing HTML applications.  By separating the business logic from your designs you and your designers can develop an interactive workflow to build better projects faster. More information about Randori can be found at : http://randoriframework.com/

Michael is a Senior Consultant and founder of Digital Primates who has been developing Internet applications since 1995. He has worked with Flex since its 1.0 beta program, began working with HTML and JavaScript from its inception and specializes in developing applications with high business impact using emerging technologies.  Michael also speaks Spanish, Italian, and pretends to speak more Japanese than he actually knows.  Some of his customers include Major League Baseball, ESPN, Morgan Stanley, Condé Nast, IBM, Dow Jones, American Express, and Verizon.

We would like to thank TechSmith for offering to host us for this meeting.  TechSmith is located in Okemos, MI, which is about 4 miles away from our normal meeting place on the campus of MSU.

Apache Flex Update & Pair Programming

February 11 2013 by Nick Kwiatkowski

During our Feburary meeting, we will be doing a quick update on the status of the Apache Flex project and some of the cool things that have been happening with it in the last few months. Compiling Flex applications to HTML5 might be closer than you think :)

We will also be doing a "pair programming" session.  Bring your Flex or ActionScript questions, converns, problems and anything else and we will sit down with your code and see what is going on.  Make sure to bring your laptops for this one :)

We will be meeting on Thursday, Feb 21st at 7pm.  This is a week later than normal (having a meeting on Valentine's day is bad luck for those in a relationship, I hear).  We will be in Room 155 within the Communication Arts and Sciences Building.  We may move to one of the computer labs on the 2nd floor during the meeting to help facilitate the Pair Programming session.

DemoCamp Lansing!

December 06 2012 by Nick Kwiatkowski

DemoCamp LansingCome join us for our annual holiday tradition, Demo Camp Lansing!  Our December meeting will be held at the Michigan Historic Museum, located in downtown Lansing, Michigan.  The event is free, but requires a ticket from : http://democamplansing4.eventbrite.com/

We'll have our holiday party at DemoCamp 4 on Wednesday, December 12 at 5:30 PM at the Michigan Historical Museum.

DemoCamp Lansing is a community event for developers, designers, marketers, entrepreneurs - everyone is welcome! The goal is to see new technology, meet other interesting techies, and learn about new and emerging tech. This is actually the fourth annual DemoCamp Lansing and the second year that MITN has joined up with DemoCamp for their holiday party. Plan for a relaxed and casual atmosphere (and plan to have some fun, too!). It will be an awesome event to kick off the end of the year.

This is a collaborative event with many local tech user groups. Several local user groups will also be having their holiday meetings at DemoCamp Lansing… GLUGNet, The Mid-Michigan ColdFusion Users Group, The Michigan Flex Users Group, Hackers & Hustlers, The Michigan Girl Geeks… so it will be quite a party!
